Cephalon began two decades ago as a company of scientists and entrepreneurs determined to forge new ways of developing drugs and running a pharmaceutical company. Since then, Cephalon has become one of the world’s fastest-growing pharmaceutical companies with operations in 37 countries. Delivering breakthrough drugs that improve the health and quality of life of millions of patients has become our heritage. And it remains our future.
We believe our responsibility as a corporate citizen extends beyond compliance with applicable laws and regulations. It is ingrained in our culture and reflected in the core values that have guided Cephalon from day one. Chief among our values is integrity.
Ways in Which Cephalon Is Fulfilling Its Corporate Responsibility
- Cephalon has a proud heritage of developing treatments for patients with rare and often life-threatening diseases for whom there are few, if any, treatment options. Four of our products have received orphan drug designations.
- Through the CephalonCaresSM Foundation we are helping improve patient access to medications and assure that cost is not a barrier to receiving treatment. Cephalon medications are made available at no cost to patients in the United States who meet certain insurance and income criteria.
- In January 2010, Cephalon began to disclose payments made to healthcare professionals for services rendered to Cephalon or on its behalf, such as speaking or consulting services for the full 12 months of 2009. In March 2011, Cephalon plans to disclose all other items of value, including meals and payments for participation in research studies, that we provide to healthcare professionals and related entities, such as hospitals, institutions, organizations and pharmacies. - Cephalon has helped advance science education by working with more than 100 organizations to develop programs to encourage budding young scientists and by contributing to leading institutes of higher learning.
- Cephalon and its employees donate time and money to support charitable organizations that are aligned with causes we hold dear and the needs of the communities in which we do business.
- Through our health advocacy programs and Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies (REMS) and RiskMAPs (Risk Minimization Action Plans) , we help promote safe and responsible use of our medications.
- Through the Cephalon Going Green initiative, we are fulfilling our commitment to environmental responsibility.
