Employee Engagement
Cephalon employees are compassionate and dedicated to making a difference. A recent survey among Cephalon employees found more than 72% of respondents are involved in volunteer or charity efforts outside the workplace. Some take leadership roles on local boards, while others tackle fundraising; more than 80% donate from their own pockets, while others participate in charity walks and other activities.
Our corporate-wide employee Charitable Matching Gift Program matches up to $250 in contributions that employees make to charitable organizations of their choice. In 2009, Cephalon and its employees contributed more than $120,000.
To make the 2009 holiday season brighter and warmer for families in need, employees rallied to support several charities providing families with generous donations of toys, food, clothing and household items to organizations serving those in greatest need. Additionally, employees in Pennsylvania donated more than 100 new children’s coats for Philadelphia families.
When Haiti was rocked by a devastating earthquake, employees opened their checkbooks and their hearts. One employee took a more hands-on approach, spending 12 days in Haiti in late January managing a team of healthcare professionals sent by International Medical Relief.
Cancer has a big impact on Cephalon. It’s a major disease area for our research and it affects so many lives within the Cephalon community. That’s why we and our employees support a number of fundraising events throughout the year —
- In 2009, we became a national sponsor of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's annual “Light The Night” charity walk, an event that holds special meaning because of our research efforts in hematological cancers. Approximately 400 employees and their families participated in the event at 18 walk sites across the country.
- Cephalon supports the American Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life,” financially and by supporting the volunteer efforts of employees in Pennsylvania and Utah, who organize teams each year to participate in the event.
- Similarly, Cephalon employees in both states make a positive contribution – in dollars raised and walkers taking part – in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure for breast cancer.
