Commitment to Community

Cephalon was founded on the resolve of a group of scientists and entrepreneurs to find new ways of developing drugs. In the two decades since then, we have forged a heritage of delivering breakthrough drugs that have improved the health and quality of life of millions of patients worldwide. While we reflect on our track record with pride, we recognize that as a company Cephalon has the potential to leave behind an even greater legacy.

We have the opportunity – and responsibility – to improve the health of communities as well. These may be communities in which we work or live or communities with which we share a common goal to advance science and health for the benefit of people around the globe.

We do not view our efforts in the community as separate from our fundamental mission. It is rather an extension of it. To that end, we believe we have a responsibility to not only develop therapies for patients with rare and hard-to-treat conditions, but to help assure patients have access to them as well. To act with integrity in our interactions with people, as well as with the environment. To promote the effective use of our drugs, as well as to combat their potential misuse. To advance science through our research, as well as to fund science education.

Building Stronger, Healthier Relationships

As with our core business of developing and bringing new medicines to market, relationships play an essential role in our philanthropic efforts. The causes we support are a direct result of the relationships we maintain with many different organizations and communities. These may include professional advocacy and education organizations, patient groups, healthcare professionals, key opinion leaders, and those with a special link with the therapeutic areas related to our research, including oncology, disorders of the central nervous system, inflammatory diseases and pain.

There are also the relationships our employees maintain with organizations and causes that are dear to them. They often dedicate their time and resources to worthwhile causes within their communities and which Cephalon also supports in a number of ways.
