LESLEY RUSSELL, MB.Ch.B., MRCP
Executive Vice President & Chief Medical Officer 

Lesley Russell, MB.Ch.B., MRCP, leads Cephalon’s global clinical, medical, regulatory, drug safety, and biometrics organizations. She has broad expertise leading clinical research initiatives as a physician and as a senior executive with pharmaceutical research companies in the United States and United Kingdom, with particular strengths in oncology.

Dr. Russell joined Cephalon in January 2000 from US Bioscience Inc./Medimmune Oncology, where she was Vice President, Clinical Research, responsible for directing and implementing the clinical programs in oncology and HIV research. Prior to that position, she was Director of Clinical Research at USB Pharma Ltd., and was a Clinical Research Physician at Eli Lilly UK, responsible for the oncology clinical trial program in the United Kingdom. Dr. Russell was Medical Director at Amgen UK.

Before joining the pharmaceutical industry, she was trained in Hematology/Oncology at Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and at Royal Hospital for Sick Children Edinburgh UK. She was a Research Fellow at University of Edinburgh Faculty of Medicine. She received a MB.Ch.B. degree from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, Faculty of Medicine and is a member of the Royal College of Physicians, United Kingdom. She is registered with the General Medical Council, UK. Dr. Russell currently serves on the board of Amag Pharmaceuticals.
