ALAIN ARAGUES
Executive Vice President &
President of Cephalon Europe
Alain Aragues was promoted to Executive Vice President and President of Cephalon Europe in January 2010.
Mr. Aragues joined Cephalon Inc. as President and General Manager of Cephalon France when the company acquired Group Lafon in 2002. He was appointed President of Cephalon Europe in 2005, when the company decided to expand its presence in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Since his appointment, the presence of Cephalon in Europe, the Middle East and Africa has increased through several product acquisitions and the acquisition of Zeneus Pharma in 2005, a European company specializing in oncology.
Before joining Cephalon, Mr. Aragues held various senior positions in the pharmaceutical industry for more than 35 years:
- at DuPont Pharmaceuticals in Europe and the United States, where he was Managing Director France and Vice President Europe in charge of Business Development
- at Bristol-Myers Squibb France
- in other pharmaceutical and healthcare companies such as Armour Montagu Pharmaceuticals (a subsidiary of Revlon Inc.), where he started his career as a Medical Representative.
Alain Aragues graduated from Institut des Sciences Politiques of Toulouse in France with a Master in Economy, Finance and Business Administration.
Alongside his current management responsibilities, Alain Aragues is board member of European Biopharmaceutical Enterprises (EBE). He has been a member of LEEM, the French Pharmaceutical Companies Association, and of Agipharm French American LAWG, a network of American research-based pharmaceutical companies in France.
In February 2008, he was awarded the highest French Distinction when he was named Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur by the French Minister of Health, Mrs. Roselyne Bachelot.
